Dave Ramsey is my hero. Really! We do the 'modified' plan, but it's still pretty close to the original.
Last Christmas, all I wanted was to get to do the Financial Peace University classes. That's it. So, that's what I got. I drove 80 miles roundtrip every Sunday night for 13 weeks (even in a very bad snowstorm, lol) to take part in the class. I knew most all of what was being taught, but you know-that class totally fired me and my DH up.
Since the first of this year, we've paid off more than $10,000 worth of debt. It's looking like we'll be almost home-free by next December. Could we have done it without the classes? Yeah, probably. But I tell you what-if that's what it took to get the job done, then it was probably one of the top 3 Christmas presents I've ever gotten.
When Dave says, "It's going to change your family tree," he's not joking. Our DD is only 10, but already has a better grasp on how it all works than I did at 18. Good deal!
I'd take his website with a grain, OK, ton of salt. It's not the easiest site to navigate around. I'd probably recommend the "Financial Peace Revisted" book for the basic nuts and bolts, and "The Total Money Makeover" book for great inspiration when times get rough (which they will, lol).
