WHERE do you work?

I'm not asking what company you work for or what you do for a living, but I am asking WHERE do you work? Are you in a standard office building in some generic inductrial park like me? Do you work in an active downtown in a high rise? Do you work in a location far from home and hate the commute? Do you work in a cubicle or in a fancy office or on an assembly line? Do you work outside? Do you work in a mall? Near a mall? Are you working at home or in someone else's home? Are you on the road a lot?
The reason I ask this is to ask if you think where you work affects your spending habits or puts your saving habits in jeopardy. Does it affect your budget in any way (like I am always buying gasoline!) or does it have advantages for you to be working in the location you are in? (Like there is no where to spend your money nearby like me!)
Answer this question anyway you like......just curious how everyone interprets this question.

I work in a highrise in downtown Baltimore on the 5th floor. There are 6 or 7 other companies in this building. I have no commuting costs b/c I'm able to walk to work. I don't usually spend money on lunch unless I'm lazy or forget to make it in the morning. Occasionally one of the brokers will buy lunch for me with a "you fly, I'll buy" kind of offer (meaning if I go pick up lunch for the both of us, he'll pay for mine).
Kelly, your company sounds awesome... they're not hiring are they? :-)

I do think where I work influences how I spend. But it has more to do with the work environment and what is around me, versus the type of building, etc.
i.e. I was working in a high rise, at a company that "suits" were the minimum standard of dressing. Across the street (short walk) was a complete shopping center. easy to go to when I needed something, or didn't need something. Also, because we had to dress nicely, I was shopping at more high end stores like Ann
I live in Ontario, and I work in the city of Toronto, in an office building downtown. I live about 45km away from Toronto, so that means I have to take the train in everyday (and then take a streetcar once I finally get here). I just started working here a few months ago and so far I don't HATE the commute, but I can't say I enjoy it either. However, it has helped my budget quite a bit because my company pays for my train pass ($231 monthly!) and also because the train station is just a minute or two from my house I am using like NO gas lately. However I do have to pay for the streetcar, which costs me $80 monthly. My office is open concept and I have one corner to myself, I like it.
However, being downtown means being close to shopping galore, which so far I have been resisting if only because it means I'd have to carry it home on the train. Also, any food I buy (and I am so undisciplined...never get up the extra five minutes earlier it would take to make my lunch) is very expensive.
Speaking of work, that's where I am right now so better get back to it!

I work in a lab that's located in a HUGE office building in a very industrial area of New Jersey. I work on the third floor and have a gross view of a run down old manufacturing plant. I don't really have an actual "desk." It's more of a space of lab bench with a computer and a phone......The area I work in is very congested so I usually don't go out for lunch. There's nothing that's not a 10 minute car ride away, except a McDonald's. So I bring my lunch.....
There are a few large shopping malls nearby, which I try to avoid.
Getting here and going home usually takes a while. I only live 18 miles away. With no traffic it takes 25 minutes. I work 9-5 so I always hit traffic. It can take anywhere from 45 (rarely) minutes to 2 hours for a one way commute. I usually spend 30-40$ a week in gas, and avoid toll roads (no better traffic-wize)....
Thank God I love my career......
I have a weekend job too. I do "Mad Science" parties and shows for kids. I drive all over central Jersey to different shows....which can eat up gas somtimes. On the plus side the people who are throwing the parties usually feed me (pizza or cake and soda), so I don't need lunch or dinner on the weekends.
