I was on the scholastic books website and discovered that they have suggestions for family projects (geared toward getting kids invloved). It includes memory books, family newsletters, etc. I thought it was interesting because they suggested letting each family member pick their photos and make a year in review kind of book. I thought this would make a good gift for my Dh's grandparents, who have everything they could ever want, but live in FL (we're in NJ) so they never get to see us. I have included the link below if anyone is interested.

We have made a vow - only home made gifts this year. I guess it helps that I am crafty and already have trunks bursting with yarn, beads, soap & candle making stuff and emossing powder. DH is refinishing my old doll house (which my grandfather made) for our DD. It's funny, but I feel more Christmasy than when we had to figure out what to buy for people. Perhaps its because I have a legitimate excuse to feed the crafting monster (not buying, just indulging in the time it takes to make stuff).

I really like to make gifts as well. Although I do not make all of our gifts I do like to give some each year. I really wish I had more time then I would give more and more homemade gifts. Unfortunately the two things I enjoy to do are cross stitch and crocheting and neither one are done in an afternoon projects. Ah well... you have now motivated me to get off the computer and pick up my sewing needle because I'm working on a very cute snowman cross stitch project.
