This is OT, and I appologize if it annoys anyone. I work for an institution that promotes history education and we just launched a really great web exhibition entitled: "Battleline: Letters from American Wars." I know a lot of people on this board are either home schoolers or are very involved in education. Its also cool for people who are just plain interested in history. If you explore the rest of the site, there are plenty of free lesson plans, quizes and educational material on all eras of American history.

This online exhibition of letters and audio, created by the Gilder Lehrman Institute and the Legacy Project, will feature correspondence from more than 200 years of American conflicts, ranging from the Revolution to the war in Iraq. This ongoing project will use the words of famous generals and lesser-known troops, as well as parents, sweethearts, and children, to explore such themes as leaving home, life in the military, the pride and worries of those left behind, and ultimate sacrifice. Although technology and circumstances have changed over time, these heartfelt letters remind us that fear, hope, and a sense of duty remain constants whenever men and women go to war.

This is so cool! We don't homeschool (I don't have the patience, lol)but all of us are history geeks, and this is the kind of thing that really brings it to life.

Thanks!
