I am actually starting to get excited...

I have spent the past couple of lunch hours (I work at Wal-Mart) looking at craft books and have come up with about a half-dozen crafts my seven year old and I can do together. I did have a short discussion with her about finances, and not wanting to go to the mall and buy everything for everybody (aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc), I am just really not in the mood this year. She is so excited about making things. So far, we are going to make star ornaments, snowflake ornaments and chocolate suckers. We are going to decorate some pictire frames and gift boxes and send home made cookies. We will probably do a few more things, too, I just bought a Better Homes and Gardens Christmas magazine for us to browse through. We will make a list tomorrow. I have NO DESIRE to go to the mall. I don't know what has come over me, but the fact that the mall is so far away probably has something to do with it. It is too crowded to actually enjoy being there, anyhow. I would go to a World Market, if there was one around, and I'm sure that I will end up going out somewhere before Christmas, but if we can just keep it together another week and a half, it should actually start getting easier. What is ten days, right? It should give me time to get some other things done!!! I think I have enough laundry to last me at least that long. LOL!!! Heather

If I remember your first post correctly, you recently lost your Mother. This is my second Christmas without my Dad. I know what you mean about not being in the mood. I also think the commericalism got to me more after my Dad passed. Gift making is getting back to basics -- love.
Good luck and happy holidays!
