Feeling Scroogelike

I sat down last night and figured out the bills for the rest of the month, and it turns out that though we will be making decent progress on our debts, we won't have a ton left over to spend on Christmas presents. We have sort of explained this to our brothers/ sisters, and they understand because we just moved and they all have stuff going on too. Chances are, they will still go overboard buying for our kids, they always do, and we won't have money to buy them much of anything. I am not pulling out the charge cards this year. I refuse. We are cutting corners wherever we can. So that makes me a Scrooge. Grrr. I'm still trying to come up with something decent. If all goes well, this will be the first December ever (in 9 years) that my husband and I have ended up owing less money at the end of December than we did in the beginning. You know what, we are happier, too.

My sister always goes overboard and she admitted that she still hasn't paid off last Christmas! As for DH and I? We had a gift card for Walmart (present for DS when he was born). He is only 4 months old, I am NOT buying him anything he doesn't need. I spent a total of $15 on him and I feel good about that. As for the rest of my family? We had a family photo done at Walmart, for $17 we got a package and that is what they are getting! I am buying frames for people that cost $3 each and they are getting nothing else! I am giving myself the gift of no debt! I will sleep better on Christmas day!
