The health effects of debt..and guilt

It has been almost two weeks since I finally told my husband how much credit card debt we had and, together, we formed a plan to help us get out of it. At that time, I had just been put on a mild diuretic due to having a BP of 150/100 and a weight of 300 at 5'4" tall.

Yesterday, I went to my doctor for a recheck, feeling confident about my ability to dig out from under this debt load (even if it takes quite a while to accomplish it), and carrying no guilt since I had told my husband absolutely everything....and found my blood pressure had gone down to 125/80, and I had lost 17 pounds. My doctor is so thrilled with my progress that he doesn't want to see me for two months and told me to go home and enjoy the holidays.

I know the diuretic had something to do with the BP, but I'm sure my guilt and "debt blues" decreasing also had something to do with it.

Although the debt is still there, I feel like I'm regaining control of my life and my health, and it feels wonderful to at least be focused on the goal of being debt free someday.

That's great, Patty! I believe that when your attitude and outlook are UP, that you're a healthier person inside as well.
Congrats on improving your health and attitude and also on getting a plan to get out of debt!

cheers!

I'm so happy to hear your health is getting better!

It is amazing the power that money can have over us and how it affects our health, etc...
