Ok, this company is trying to sew me for rent when I never signed a lease with them. So, I called legal aid thinking that they could help me. I found out I make to much money. In other words, I work my a$$ off working b/w 56-75 hrs at both jobs, trying to better myself and my life. Your going to kick me in the teeth. i was so f'n pissed that I vented to anyone that would listen. The branch manager of my ft job has lawyer cousin, which pretty sure the works in the grey area of the law. I'm just so tried of all the bs. I'm trying to climb out of this hole I created and I feel like everytime I get some footing, someone push me back down.

Also, my exlandlord still hasn't sent me my deposit on my old apt. So I wrote him a letter stating that I wanted my deposit back my December 31 or futher action would be taking. I sent this letter certified with tracking and every other possible accessory it cost my $7.90 to mail it to TX (I live in NE).

We had tenants in a fist floor apartment of our old house. We never had a written lease with them, but had a verbal month to month lease.
You could trying searching "tenant rights" plus the name of your state in google. I did the quickly and noticed several states have official websites for tentant rights. Also, maybe there is an advocacy group that could help you.
Hope this helps,

Lurker and fellow Nebraskan popping in to offer some help. What an icky mess! Unfortunately, tenants' rights laws are really weak in NE and you have even less protection if you never signed a lease with a company. There are some really bad, exploitative landlords and management companies in this state, especially in the major cities. Two organizations that might be able to offer you some help are the Family Housing Advisory Service (http://www.fhasinc.org/index.htm). Visit the "Program Services" section and go into the Tenants' Services section. There are some counselors available there who might be able to advise you of your rights or what you might do. You might also try the Better Business Bureau (http://www.heartlandbbb.org/) and ask if they can help with some dispute resolution.

I hope some of this helps! Good luck!

The worse is I never even lived there. I put deposits down on two apt, while I thought about it awhile. Now, apt b is suing me for rent when I clearly totaly them that I wasn't going to move into there apt complex.
