I am SOOO glad the holidays are behind us. we didn't have an all that great December, but our debt still went down a little bit, better than it usually is this time of year. Well, we got a good balance transfer deal from one of our cards...2.9% for life, no transfer fees. So we are going with that, and then the highest interest we will have is 5.9. My two cards which have the lowest balances (but are store purchases with no interst until 2006) will be our targets. Well, maybe i will target them one card at a time, in the interest of having one paid off sooner. Yeah, that sounds good. It is interesting...we did definitely scale back what we spent during the holiday season this year..but it seemed like we did more fun stuff, molding chocolate, making ornaments, etc. I broke down and went out to eat after all tonight...my Dad is going home this weekend, and I don't have another day off until next tuesday, but I basically just borrowed money from my carpet fund, since my pay will go in in about 10 minutes. I **almost** managed to not go out, but my craving for Cracker Barrel chicken and dumplings won. You know, January just might turn out semi-frugal. In order to go almost anywhere around here, you have to drive 20 miles...I HATE that, doesn't usually seem worth the effort to me. I went out today and exchanged some Christmas presents, but it seemed like such a pain in the butt. It sure is different when the mall is 7 minutes up the road. :)

I know what you mean about having more fun during the holidays. I've noticed the same thing in our home too. Since telling DH about the credit card debt we had, and coming up with a plan, together, to get out of it, we have just been a much closer family. We are enjoying just being together, whether it's a walk around the neighborhood, or family movie night, cooking together, riding bikes together, kicking a ball around the yard, etc. Everything just seems more fun. For the past month, since my debt came out in the open, I honestly feel like I'm bringing some of the fun of my own childhood into my son's life. It's so good to have a plan to bring down our debt.
