I'm in! :-) I'm home most days (homeschooling stay-home Mom), but there are times when we've got a lot of errands to do in the car, and I could definitely pack lunches for those days, rather than stopping at a fast food place.

I have a hard time packing my lunch in the mornings. So what I do is I get a loaf of bread, lunch meat, lettuce, mayo, mustard, cheese, chips, yogurt, fruit, tea bags, etc., and I take it all to work each Monday. I put most of it in the fridge at work (I confiscated one of the bottom drawers) and then at lunchtime I just go make my sandwich, or later I go grab a yogurt for a snack. I like it mostly because I can toast my bread in the kitchenette before I make my sandwich. I have chips and things like that in my drawer. Oh, I also have english muffins, butter and jelly in there for breakfast :) and some oatmeal in my desk. My grocery bill did not go up a noticable amount and I spend about $30-40 less cash per week.

I am in! :) I go back to work on Sunday night (work nights in the ER at a trauma center...) so I need to get back in the groove of things. Before I took leave from work (Dec 7th...had emergency surgery for appendicitis) I was starting to slip on taking my own lunches and snacks. Many of my coworkers make middle of the night fast food and grocery store runs and it's easy to get sucked in!

So, today and tomorrow I'm going to put together a bunch of snacks and look at what we have to take for lunches. I'm determined NOT to buy any new groceries until next weekend also. Luckily I just got free granola samples that will last at least a month and they are yummy! :) Plus I have lots of allergy friendly stuffed stashed away that I just haven't been eating.

:) I'll let you know how it goes! My biggest downfalls at work, however, are the vending machine when I crave sugar and the soda machines! Yikes! In the past I have kept a case of generic soda in the trunk of my car and only grabbed one or two at the start of every shift and managed to make the soda last a long time and it was cheaper than the vending machines...maybe I'll consider that again...we'll see how it goes once I'm back at work! :)

This is pretty much what I do too for school, but not because I have a hard time packing my lunch, lol. I just *hate* packing my lunch, lol. (for a more detailed version, it's on Julie's (jbtex) lunch post from earlier this week).

Because I will be at school for 3 long days in a row, which will include lunch and dinner, I will have to leave more supplies at school during the week.

So, I'm in, but not in a 'traditional' sense..like you would expect anything different from me, ROFL!!

Definitely count me in! I can see all the money we are all going to save right now, not to mention the weight we could lose, because I am sure we will be eating healthier bringing our own food and the gas we will save not going to the drive thrus! Yeah! Happy New Year everyone!!

deciding to be happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, but that you had decided to look beyond the imp

Hi,

I always take my lunch to school/work - I'm a high school teacher. There is a small fridge and a microwave in our office, so it's perfect for brownbagging it. I usually bring in leftovers or a frozen microwave meal. I never spend more than $2.50 on a frozen meal, usually much less because I watch for sales. I also bring in bottled water and an occasional soda. I don't like the school food, and it's quite a walk to the cafeteria as well, so I guess my laziness saves me $. LOL.

I'm in for sure! Can't say it will happen EVERY day, but I will brown bag to the best of my ability.

cheers!
