Resolutions, anyone?

I just wondered if anyone wanted to post their New Year's Resolutions for 2005. Maybe seeing them in writing, saying them out loud, would help us all keep them. As for me, here are mine:

1. Lose 20 pounds by my birthday (May).
2. Stay away from the snack machines at work (no more wasting money there).
3. Have all but my two largest cc balances paid by my birthday.
4. Start a savings account ASAP (haven't had a savings in years).
5. Be the best parent and role model I can be to my kids.
6. Read more.
7. Keep my house cleaner, declutter.
8. Save all my spare change.
9. Walk on my treadmill every day, even if I can only get in 10 minutes or so.
10. Spend more time with my friends.

Quite a list, but some are inter-related, so that will help. All are definitely in reach, I just have to discipline myself. This board will help.

Who's next?

My list is similar to yours:

1. Eat healthier-I have wheat/gluten intolerance and I don't stay away from
it like I should.

2. Lose 20 pounds

3. Pay off at least 3 credit cards by the end of the year.

4. De clutter the house(except kids' rooms)and keep it that way.

5. Exercise every day.

6. Try to be more patient with my 13yro DD

I have many in mind, but I'm trying to narrow it down to a couple of resolutions to focus on.

1. Get back out of debt. Gotta plan and everything. :)

2. Improve my posture. I'm a terrible sloucher and lounger.

3. Get physically stronger. Nuff said.

4. Fix up the YARD. Ugh, I have a terrible jungle of a yard.

5. Practice piano. Or sell the piano. One or the other, so I better practice!

1. I resolve to watch my spending so I can move closer to my goal of being debt free.

2. I resolve to bring simplicity back into my son's childhood and show him that he doesn't need every new electric gadget that comes onto the market to have fun.

3. Get back to exercising daily and watching what I eat.

4. Not sweat the small stuff. :-D

Happy New Year everyone! Less than 3 hours, EST, until 2005!

Are boys aloud to answer this?

1. Get to the gym enough finally to look
like adrian paul.
2. secure this contract that will finally allow me
to start an independant enginner company (no employees,
just me).
3. Get to the gym enough to finally look like adrian paul
(have had health issues including my back the past couple
years)

Yes, boys can answer, even if they don't currently look like Adrian Paul...LOL.

Good luck on your goals!

I think I'm going to do something different this year. I'm going to do a 6 month plan, and revisit it in June, and revise as needed.

So, for the beginning of 2005, I resolve to:

1. Get my Associates Degree. I'm currently holding down a 4.0 GPA. I already get to wear a neat tassel thing and a stole because I was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa last spring (the 2-year college honor society). My goal is to keep the 4.0 so that I can graduate Summa Cum Laude (if that's the one, I dunno.). I will graduate 12 May 2005.

2. Finish my library Voluntary Certification Final project by 15 February 2005. My portfolio has hung around long enough. Time to get 'er done!

3. Rebuild the baby emergency fund by 31 January 2005. We've recommitted to the Dave Ramsey plan-we're going to do it by the numbers this time! And I do miss that e-fund more than I thought...

4. Get rid of 10 pounds of 'body clutter' by 1 May 2005. I know that there are more I could lose, but I think I'll start small and revise upwards as needed. ;)

5. Pay off the Motley Fool Visa and say, "Buh-bye. MBNA!" by 31 May 2005.

That's a good enough start, I think. And, on the plus side, it's all doable!

1. Move out of my mom's house by June 1st

- start looking at locations/prices now
- reduce debt as much as possible by June 1 (only 6 months!)
- save $200/mo for $1200 move in costs (avg for this area)

2. Pull ds from public school at the end of the school year and begin homeschooling

- find childcare options for when I am taking comm. college classes
- sign up for the two area homeschool co-op's
- attend hsing seminar with boyfriend at the local hsing bookstore

3. Finish ALL of the classes I've signed up for with B's or better (4 classes) without dropping any of them!

- boyfriend already agreed to watch ds on Monday evenings so I can get some sleep (remember, I work nights!)
- study and eat during the one hour between two of my classes
- ask my mom, sister and Chris for extra help when I need it
- drop one day/week at work (because of taxes I figured out I will make the SAME amount if I drop a day! Weird how taxes work in this country!)

4. Sign up for more classes in Summer and Fall and enroll in the Respiratory Therapy program at the community college in the Fall.

- finish my spring classes strong
- follow the same steps as above
- find childcare and daycamp for ds while I am at school

5. Run the Portland Marathon in October.

- take ds to the gym with me...he loves the playcare area and will beg to go!
- attend Yoga and Pilates classes at the gym
- take use of the personal trainer at the gym for strength training
- follow the Portland Marathon's website training guide...first run is in a couple of weeks (2miles!)
- use the track at school for some runs between classes if my studying is done

6. Cut my debt by $6,000 (that's $500/month towards debt...should be easily doable but I did horribly at it this past year!)

- reprioritize my bills, how and what I pay
- write to all the companies that I owe for lowered interest rates
- if they say no to lower interest rates ask my 0% credit card (that I pay FAITHFULLY and ONLY use for regular monthly items like internet, cell phone, gym fees, gas for the car) to raise my limit and accept balance transfers from my other debts
- go over my bills and budget EVERY Wednesday night (seems to be the best night for me to get stuff DONE)

I originally posted just the individual goals without the breakdowns on another board I visit. Then I went back to that board after doing some thought and reposted with the breakdown of steps towards each goal.

PS -- I read the post about someone going to the gym to look like Adrian Paul...uhm...who is Adrian Paul? Should I know this? ;)
