Had to have that latte!!

I had a terrible migraine and coffee always helps me to get rid of it--few years ago DR actually prescribed one cup of coffee a day for my headaches(I had developed an allergy to aspirin) I don't drink that much coffee anymore.
Anyways I didn't have any flavored creamer, can't drink coffee without it, so while I was coming home from work, I swung by the latte place--$6 later, my son was with me so I had to get him something too.
It worked like a charm, my headache was gone in about 45 minutes but if I was smart I would have stopped by the store, bought a $1.50 bottle of creamer and went home. Could of had a lot of cups of coffee for a lot less money.

In your defense, coming from someone who has migraines, I would pay $6 to avert one :)
Although, over the years I have perfected my solution - I go to a dark place, like a closet, and pop pills - 1 Allegra, 3 Advil, 2 Sudafed, then I sit and wait. Maybe I need to add a cup of coffee, too :)
Also as a fellow migraine sufferer I would pay just about anything to get rid of one. I use to buy Immitrex that cost a fortune, but have found a prescription that works better for a miniscule portion of what Immitrex cost me. I would say $6 is a pretty inexpensive price to pay for pain relief! I think you are doing fine.

PS. I can't drink my coffee without flavored creamer either. :)

deciding to be happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, but that you had decided to look beyond the imp
I have to second (third? fourth?) the statement that $6 is not much to pay when you're suffering a migraine. Man, oh, man. When I'm in the midst of one, I'd pretty much sell my house to get out from under it if I had to. Okay, maybe that's a bit of an exageration, but only because my house comes second only to my husband and kids in the order of the universe:).
Fortunately, what works for me is simply going in a cool, dark, quiet room and being very, very, very still. If I can do that long enough to fall asleep and then sleep for a few hours, it usually passes. But heaven help anyone who causes me to have to turn my head even an eighth of an inch! LOL
Glad it worked for you, and glad you have a plan to be prepared in the future, so your fix can be cheaper next time. Yay, you!

I've posted about this here before, but thought I'd share again. I love Starbucks and going out for coffee. I used to go EVERYDAY and sometimes more when I was in grad. school. I finally realized a couple of years ago that I needed to cut out this expensive and frivolous habit! More than a year ago, I began using a Starbucks gift card and uploading it once a month so that I can limit my visits and monthly spending. This past holiday season, they uploaded my card with a "gift" of $5. It's not much, but it is nice to be able to enforce this part of my budget and allow myself these little treats!

Glad your migraine went away.
I guess I'm lucky - I've never had problems with migraines or headaches of any sort.
All my best,
Danni
I'm lucky that I don't get migraines, but I will echo that I agree with everyone else - $6 to avert one is worth it!
Maybe you should pick up some flavoured creamer so you're prepared for if another one comes?
I use to take 3 extra strength excedrin and a pepsi. I developed a severe allergy to aspirin(because I was taking such high doses)can't take Advil, anything related.
Its funny you mentioned Sudafed because I just discovered that if I take the sudafed with the cough stuff in it(guassifren?something like that)it helps alot.
I never liked coffee, still don't really. Mine has so much flavoring in it you can't taste the coffee. My new favorite is a Huckleberry cheesecake Latte, in the summer it has to be Mocha Frappes.
