My Saturday

I had an interesting Saturday.............

I ended up needing to charge a new blowdryer....seems Cousin Bernadette (my name for my relationship with debt) burned out the old one on Friday. She couldn't wait for me to get paid, and I needed the dryer before payday, so she was happy to go out with me to Walmart to charge a new one. I was not too happy.

I decided to start my decluttering project this morning, working on it in small spurts, but I feel I accomplished something even though it looks like I have done nothing in this apartment! In the process of going thru some cabinets in the kitchen, I found 5 lids to pots I didn't have anymore, so threw them out. I found 2 old cell phones I could donate to charity. I donated a couple articles of clothing that didn't fit anymore and some knick-knacks I got for Xmas last year that I just don't need or have room for. It feels good to loosen up some space, but I am a long way from being done with this project.

But, after dealing with all the junk I was finding in that short amount of time and small space, I just didn't have the urge to go out and buy more stuff.....BUT, I thought I'd check out a craft store while I was out after going to Walmart, and there were a lot of things in the craft store I could have charged up seeing as Cousin Bernadette was saying, "you charged the blowdryer...would a few more things be such a big deal?" But I got his feeling while was in that shop that I had SO MANY other higher level priorities that I needed to attend to, and buyimg more craft stuff was just NOT the right thing to do at this time, so I left the shop and came home. I was feeling satisfied that I had sort of rescued myself at that moment today with that thought. And it was such a strong feeling that made me just get away from all the temptation. That feeling walked me out the door.

Sunday has a different set of challenges, and there will be no time for shopping again until next weekend. (I have to show up at the gym!!!)

Have a great Sunday! Littlesbigs

Hey, congratulations on listening to the little voice in your head (NOT Cousin Bernadette! lol) and avoiding charging more. That's terrific!

I know what you mean about the clutter - we're working on that, too. It feels good to liberate the stuff. As long as it's liberating itself right out of my door...
