What is your biggest downfall?

You know, the thing that throws you off budget most often? The thing that makes your good sense temporarily fly out the window? For me, it is food. If I am hungry, that's it...I can't always be satisfied with what we have on hand. i can grocery shop at noon and still want pizza for dinner. ARGHH! So this morning, I am cooking. i have a huge batch of mashed potatoes going (which I make into potato pancakes). I think I will finally make a chocolate pie, too. Then, I won't feel deprived. (I won't order dominos, I Won't order Dominos, I won't order Dominos!) LOL!!! Heather

Same for me! If I am hungry, all rational thought goes out the window and I HAVE to have something to eat right away!! I am now trying to keep snacks with me all the time so that I can eat something that I have on hand rather than succumbing to my temptations. I also LOVE pizza and have found a great way to make it at home that satisfies my craving. I use Bisquick for the dough and then whatever I have on hand for the toppings. I love it! I am also really enjoying those days when I spend $0.00, so that feeling is helping to keep my spending in check, I started tracking all my spending this month and I hate to write down when I spend money, so I am finding that I can usually say no rather than having to write something down. I hope this feeling lasts, but I know I will have days that the wants will win and I'm ok with that, I just hope the wants lose more often! Ha!

deciding to be happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, but that you had decided to look beyond the imp

Ha everything! I can justify everything I spend money on...that is why the spending plan is so tough for me, and it shouldn't be!!!!

For me it's food and also toys for dd. I am much better than I used to be, but I have such a hard time not spoiling her.

Generosity is my biggest downfall. For some reason I don't feel as bad spending money if it's being spent on someone else. Not to say that this is a bad thing really, but I've always had a reputation for being generous when it comes to presents, or helping somone out financially when they need it. Now that I'm keeping a closer eye on my money I'm finding it's easier to say "no" to myself than it is to say to my family and friends. I overshot my Christmas budget by 600$...

A good sale - like the long sleeve tees I bought for 1.97 each total spent $52, or food DH has an absoloute cow if there's no dinner, so I bought dinner saturday night after being out all day, $14, and my grocery bill is creeping up $68 this weekend.

For me is buying stuff for my kids. They are my weakness. I spoil them. You won't believe, I can't believe it. Last week, I bought stuff for them on-line. (I've never done that). I bought DVDs, books, and the last thing i ordered was bedding for them. For my DS, I bought him a Nascar set. He loves cars. For my DD, i bought her a Disney Princess set.

I charged it on my Amex. Therefore, i do plan on paying it in full when the bill arrives.

Oh! You just reminded me I've been meaning to look for a used DVD of Thumbelina online! We've rented it twice and I don't want to keep renting it! (I do have money in this week's budget to cover it though!)

Mine is *definitely* food - both grocery shopping and eating out. We've been doing better with the whole eating out thing (we're down to 2 times a paycheck, which is once a month), but the groceries still astound me.

How can staples that we need weekly (milk, eggs, bread, fresh fruits & veggies) come to $50/month? I don't get that. There's only two of us! It's not like we're buying gourmet bread. If there is such a thing. I had a very small list last weekend - and it still came to $50. In fact, I think it's a conspiracy. It seems like every time we go into the grocery store, it's $50. Hmmm...

Oh, well. At least I know it and am working on it. But it's definitely our budget-buster.

Books. Chocolate. Books. Ummm, let me think...Books!

I am a librarian. You'd think I'd get enough of books at the library, LOL! Umm, no.

Over Christmas break, DH said, "Hey, for part of your Christmas present, order YOURSELF some books." Soooooo, I did! When I'll get the time to READ them, I dunno.

2 weeks ago, we each got $20 for blow money for this payperiod. He still has his $20. Mine was spent on BOOKS the first day!

*Sigh* "I'm Lisa, and I am totally, without a doubt a Book-a-holic." "Hi, Lisa..."
