I got GEICO last Night!!!!!!!!

My insurance for this year when I renew would have been 7900$, my minimum renewal payment would have been 2370$ (plus 5 payments of 1106$ every other month). I lost points, but they actually don't come off until April, not Feberuary like I had thought. I told them that I was not going to renew with them and I'd try getting GEICO. My insurance company, Allstate, had told me GEICO wouldn't give me a policy because I'm considered a high risk driver (used to have a small speeding problem). They said I had to stay with Allstate.

Last night I got a quote online from GEICO....$1460.50 for 6 months. I called when I got home from work to make sure they weren't joking. Well they were, it shot up to $2065.50 for a 6 month policy (4131$/year) when the went over the "details" of my driving record, which were a little worse than I had entered on the online application, because they go back 5 years instead of 3 like most companies do.

But in the end I ended up saving almost 4000$....

I had planned on sending Allstate 6500$ to renew my policy, then paying the rest off through the year. All I had to do was spend $2065.50 for the next six months. Plus I'm getting over 1000$ back from Allstate from the unused portion of my policy. I'm putting another 2100$ in a savings account so I'm ready in July when I have to renew.

The rest of the money I'm sending to my CC's. They will be all paid off by March!!!

I've never been more excited to shell out 2000$!!!!

I don't know how you New Jersians pay so much for insurance. I'm across the river and I pay less than $1,000 for a whole year. My driving record is better than yours, but still, NJ insurance rates are outrageous!

Hmmm...so I've heard. I do know people who have much cheaper insurance than me. If you record is clean, you're over 25, and your car isn't leased then a policy would be about $1500-3000 for a year depending on the car and the coverage (assuming you have collision ins.). If you are young, or get a speeding ticket or have an accident they can really nail you (I fit into all three catagories)....hence my problem....

GEICO just came to Jersey a few months ago....they are the first in the state to use credit scores to determine rates, which I think is ridiculous, but in my case, it works in my favor....

I feel like I won 4000$ !!!!!!!!!

Wow! I couldn't afford to shell out $6000 a year on insurance! I'm happy you are saving so much money!!
We also have Allstate. We have compared with others, but no one could beat them. We pay a monthly rate of $113 for a 2001 Durango and a 2001 Neon. We also have our home owners with them and that gives us an automatic discount.

But I do know when you are under 25 and have any "boo-boos" on your record it is higher. My 22 y.o. sil has Allstate and hers is outrageous too.

I remember being excited to turn 25 just to get that discount- isn't that crazy!

Wow,, I cannot imagine having to pay that much in car insurance,,, that is unfathomable. I have no points at all and I have somehow been lucky and just don't get pulled over,, and I gripe about the $115 a month I pay for full coverage. Well I called Geico and though they seem to be giving you a decent deal,, they have given me two bad quotes,, more than what I'm paying now so I feel they still rip alot of people off. The best and cheapest insurance out there is USAA- which is available to only members of the military and their dependents. Anyone that is eligible for that needs to,, they also give you money back at the end of the year,, how many insurance companies do that? Well I certainly hope your rate goes down soon,, that is still a ridicuous amount I think.
