I got GEICO last Night!!!!!!!!

My insurance for this year when I renew would have been 7900$, my minimum renewal payment would have been 2370$ (plus 5 payments of 1106$ every other month). I lost points, but they actually don't come off until April, not Feberuary like I had thought. I told them that I was not going to renew with them and I'd try getting GEICO. My insurance company, Allstate, had told me GEICO wouldn't give me a policy because I'm considered a high risk driver (used to have a small speeding problem). They said I had to stay with Allstate.

Last night I got a quote online from GEICO....$1460.50 for 6 months. I called when I got home from work to make sure they weren't joking. Well they were, it shot up to $2065.50 for a 6 month policy (4131$/year) when the went over the "details" of my driving record, which were a little worse than I had entered on the online application, because they go back 5 years instead of 3 like most companies do.

But in the end I ended up saving almost 4000$....

I had planned on sending Allstate 6500$ to renew my policy, then paying the rest off through the year. All I had to do was spend $2065.50 for the next six months. Plus I'm getting over 1000$ back from Allstate from the unused portion of my policy. I'm putting another 2100$ in a savings account so I'm ready in July when I have to renew.

The rest of the money I'm sending to my CC's. They will be all paid off by March!!!

I've never been more excited to shell out 2000$!!!!

Switching from Progressive to Geico saves me an average of $40/month. :) I used to have USAA but had negative income while with my ex and missed some payments and now USAA won't take me back unless I give them the full 6mo amount up front -- can't manage to do that due to other financial circumstances. Geico costs me about the same as USAA so I'm happy anyhow.

The only thing that irritated me is that I had to sign up for some coverage I didn't need (forget what it's called) in order to get roadside assistance through Geico. I don't recall having to do that with USAA...? Hmmmm....
