OK I'm obsessed...

OK I think I'm obsessed with debt. I have spent so much of the last few days running numbers, setting up spreadsheets, reading this and other boards and just thinking about our debt and what to do. I don't mean this in a desperation "What are we going to do" way, but more of a being excited to be working on it way. I'm obsessed!!! LOL

Anyone else feel like that?

I do the same thing, ladies! I am obsessed! (But I am single, so I have no one to get annoyed by it!)

Every night, I check my checkbook, check for cleared checks, etc. and do some quick calculations of what to expect with my next paycheck, etc. But it's not in a stressed-out kind of way, I swear!

And someone mentioned LIKING paying bills ~ I am like that too! So many people pick on me about it, but I LOVE sitting down with all my bills and paying them! It feels so good to put the checks in an envelope, seal them, stamp them, and send them off!

I'm with you on this one. But I don't know how to do spreadsheets on my computer. Maybe that's a good thing? :)

DH can attest that I am obssessive, compulsive when it comes to money.

Thanks everyone! So glad i'm not alone :)

And you know what? I LOVE to pay bills too! It makes me feel good because there was so long when we didn't even have a checking account and we'd go 3 months between paying some bills. Oh I'm so ashamed to admit that! LOL But I love it now. It makes me feel like a real adult (imagine that - I'm only 28 and feel like an adult! LOL) and it feeds into my little bit of OCD :)

Anyway, that's why I like it here. I'm so not alone - even in the goofy stuff :)

Some of you sound exactly like me!! I feel I am obsessed with going over the budget. Everyday I look at my notebook to see what I can pay with dh's check and what I need to make up with my tips. I'll go a few pays ahead and do this too. If there's an extra pay or bonus coming up anytime in the year- you can bet I'm already playing with numbers to apply it to debt. I have special folders for each bill and go over those too.

I call the cc company almost everyday to see if my snowflakes went through and what my balance is. I wait for the mail to come to pay bills~ I agree I feel grown up when I pay them and it feels so good to be able to write that check!

I don't feel like this is a bad obsession. I need to do this, it fulfulls me and makes me feel happy and secure. There are worse things to obsess over- this is actually doing us good!
Thanks, Nicki

I didn't have time to read every one's reply, but I think it is normal. The excitement of being able to do something keeps your momentum going. And I personally don't think it's bad.

I also check my book almost daily and play with numbers every day. I think it keeps your mind on what is important and that is not spending needleslly anymore and being concious when you do spend.

If you are moving forward and not standing in the puddle then you are doing great, I say. even when the ground is still wet, if you keep moving forward (keep playing with your numbers), you will eventually reach dry ground.
