HI---
This may be slightly off-topic, but I'll give it a try...
I'm going to be relocating about three hours away for a new job. The problem?? I have to pay about $2000 to break my apartment lease. I have a moderate amount of debt (credit cards, student loans, etc) and can't just pay that all at once. My new company will pay for moving expenses but not anything related to placing a deposit on a new place or breaking a lease. I've tried talking to them about paying it over three months or sooner (from my tax refund check), but I haven't had any luck. Any suggestions?? How do I pay for this or how do I get out of it?
Thanks for your help in advance.

I don't know if it's feasible for you but can you continue to pay the rent until your refund comes in and break the lease with that $ then? Kind of a waste of $ to pay for an apt your not using, but if it's cheaper? If you've filed and you know your refund is on it's way, would it be cheaper to pay the rent until the refund comes in than paying the 2 grand to get out now? I guess it all depends on how much your rent is and whether you could swing both apts till your refund comes in?
Sorry I know that may not be help but that's all that popped into my head, you're in quite a pickle :(....
Where are they getting the 2 grand from anyway? That sounds high. When is your lease up?
Do you have any friends you could trust who need a place to stay and could pay the rent? (I don't even know if that's legal?...Is that subleasing????)
Is there anyone who could lend you the $??
I'm no lawyer so I don't know anything about breaking leases, but I know apt. complexes are good at making sure you get a raw deal when you move, as this happened to DH and I before we moved into our home and left the apt.
Good luck, I wish I could come up with something better, but at the moment I'm drawing a blank....
