Feeling good at the moment...

At the moment I'm feeling really ok about my debt situation. I was looking at housing rental ads online and found a place I LOVE so I read the rental criteria...my debt and credit record are likely to keep me from renting there. I should feel bad about that BUT...I'm not planning to move for approximately six months. So, as soon as I was done looking over their website (their community is soooo nice!), I started checking out my bills. I reviewed my bank statements, and credit card statements online then reviewed the paper bills I have in front of me.
In the past week I have paid $200 to one cc and $100 to a second cc. The first cc is used to pay automatic monthly bills (internet, cell phone, netflix). The second card is a "backup" emergency card that I haven't been treating like an emergency card (bad me!). A $250 payment cleared my bank for my highest interest debt...only $750 left to pay that sucker off! Then I wrote checks for $50, $110, and $100 to other bills and wrote payment for $50 using a cc to another bill...didn't want to use the cc but need to get that bill paid NOW as it is just days from going on my credit report!
That rental place that I found is so amazing that I think it's the motivation I need to REALLY go over my debt and get things taken care of! Monday morning I am also paying tuition for this term at school and I plan to go to the financial aid office to look at scholarships for Summer term.
Whew! Now if I can just keep that momentum going! :)
I was really down because my car got totalled in an accident the other day but I'm feeling ok about things now...I got rearended by a HUGE suv then pushed into the truck in front of me. DS and I were taken by ambulance to the hospital but are fine now...I'm just sore. Unfortunately my auto insurance company claims they did not receive the payment I made...I mailed it in a week ago and they now list me as cancelled! It has not posted to my bank account either so I don't know what happened. My sister used to be an insurance agent so she's helping me deal with all this.
Anyhow, I hope others here have found some sort of motivation to keep them going! I just have to make sure I visit that website regularly to keep myself psyched up! :)

Do you have a printer to print a few photos from the rental company's website? If so, put a picture or two tucked into your purse or wallet to remind you of the wonderful goal you're trying to acheive. Each time you're tempted to buy something, you'll see those photos.
I'm really sorry to hear about your accident. That sounded awful. I'm so glad you're ok. Is your son ok? I'm not sure, but since you were not at fault in the accident, should your insurance matter? Shouldn't the person who re-ended your car have his/her insurance company pay for repairs on your vehicle and the vehicle that you were pushed into? You said it was totaled, though, so maybe that's why. I hope this can be worked out with your insurance company so you can at least get something for your car. Be sure to have the other person's insurance cover yours and your son's hospital bills. That shouldn't be a bill you have to pay.

I agree, whether you had insurance or not, the accident wasn't your fault. In most, if not all states, you get hit from behind, it isn't your fault. I have been in two accidents, one my fault, because I hit the person in rear of his car (he was going 5 miles an hour in the fast lane of the interstate rubbernecking at another accident and I couldn't stop) and one I was hit from behind (not my fault).
Hope everything gets straightened out and glad you are okay.
