I don't know about writing an explanation, but I do know that you can dispute all the incorrect items on your credit report online. Just go to the bureaus website, fill out the information and submit. The websites are secure and I disputed five or six things in the same online form. You get a copy of your dispute you can print directly from the website and you get an email acknowledging that they received your dispute. I have done it twice for the same company and I have received a corrected report (for free) within three weeks.

I don't know if you can dispute multiple items in a letter, but I presume you can. If you want to go that route, I would suggest checking Dave Ramsey's "Finacial Peace Revisited" out of your library. In the back, he has sample letters to send to the credit bureaus. I suggest that because he has it set up like a form letter and all you would have to do is copy the letter and add your info and send it off. It also sounds more "legal" than what I could come up with.

Good luck on getting things corrected.

I have disputed multiple things in one letter before. I have never written a letter to be included in my report, but I think doing so is a good idea.
