It pays to know! GOOD NEWS!

It may sound like a DUH! you should have known that....but it really pays to know what warranties you have on your car and anything else. Always check with customer care before any repairs are done to see what's still covered and not.
I do not have to pay for the $462 repair that the dealer tried to get me to pay. If I had not called customer care, I would have paid it. Thankfully, I called them. They took care of the problem, ran interference for me with the service manager, and took care of business. THey also informed me of yet ANOTHER warranty I have on my car good for 7 years, unlimited mileage. And if I ever encounter that repair, I'll be armed with that knowledge.
For the record, I do not blame the car. It is a great car. It's the people who try to take advantage of you and do things to your car that I don't trust, which is a shame because we are mostly at their mercy.
In the past, I have paid so much money...so much money that I was in CC debt for a long time b/c of it.
Anyway, I wouldn't want to have anything but a VW. I'm just going to try to find someone who I can trust to help me with repairs since I am not a mechanic...unless I become one myself...

cheers,
slojuly

p.s. Did I fail to mention that I paid off my credit card and now only have the car note?

That is great news. The best thing you can do at this point is to find someone you trust, you are right. Thankfully in my case my BIL is a mechanic. Unfortunately he lives in Montana and we live in Kansas. But, before we have any work done we run it by him. Usually in a phone call he can tell us what we need to know.

Do you get a refund on the orginial repair? I sure hope so.

Sorry y'all....I've been so busy between work (we're currently down 2 ppl and working our buns off), trying to figure out what's going on with my daily headaches (back and forth to doctors and allergists), and dealing with this car stuff, I just forgot to post the news. I will do so now.

Glad to hear that you didn't have to pay for your car to be repair.
