Hi all! I don't post a whole lot here but I love this board...I check it probably 4 times a day! LOL Anyway, I've posted recently about DH and I getting back on track budget wise and developing a good plan for starting to work our way out of debt....
Well here's a bit of an update and my little breakthrough moment. I don't know how many times I've read here that you need to get your spending under control before working on debt repayment. Yet no matter how many times I've read it, it never really sunk in, until now. I don't know why but it's like a little lightbulb moment. In a way I was trying to do two things at once - getting us on a workable budget and pay our debt. And I wanted the debt gone NOW. But I realized that I absolutely have to do the budget first and we have to learn to stick to it for a few months and then start working on the debt. I am so embarassed to admit this but a ton of our debt is in charge off status on our credit reports. I hate that but at the same time we haven't made payments in so long that a few months won't hurt us anymore. (How sad is that?? LOL) In reality we only have one debt right now that we HAVE to pay on - that's a loan from my parents. Other than that the rest is getting current on our bills like the utilities. And we're getting there. I need to plug up some areas in our money leaking problem - our grocery budget for one and our electric bill for another. It's shocking how much we've been paying in electric for a tiny two bedroom apartment!
So anyway if that rambling made any sense that's my update. Here's some cheery news though! We're expecting baby #3 in August and were dreading how we were going to fit a fifth person in this apartment. We're cramped as it is. Well our apartment complex has offered to convert two apartments (one a one bedroom, the other a two bedroom) into one three bedroom apartment. It's amazing! We're so excited! Now normally the rent for a three bedroom in this complex would be way beyond oru budget but we're starting to work as apartment managers so our rent is 1/2 price. That makes it pretty affordable! We don't have a moving date yet. We're waiting for two apartments next to each other to become available. This is pretty exciting for us :)
Anyway that's my little update. Now I"m going to head over to the budget board and post a couple questions :)

Wow that is great news on the apartment front!
All my best,
Danni
Congratulations on the upcoming baby and the apartment working out for you!!!
