Credit card web sites' tools

One of my credit cards has a website that has features to help me manage my credit card expenditures and balance...(If only they would help with the payments!!!!!) Does your credit card company provide tools like email alerts and old statements that you can use to help you manage your debt? Have you ever looked at their websites? Do you use the tools?

One of my favorite features is an email alert note that is sent to me whenever a payment is registered to my account....You can set it up so that if you charge something over a certain amount, you'll get a note in your email....I set it up so anything I charge over one dollar sends and email when it is posted to my account. It's a reminder to me. You may want to use it and have it email you so you don't get surprises on your next bill if you are not the only one with access to the credit card account.

I also like that I can review old statements...sometimes I don't want to drag out the paper ones, so this is good to see....and I can see what will be on my next statement as well....I can see if I am charging too much or that my payments are being posted correctly to my account.

As we are on our debt journeys, tools like these canm be very helpful! I encourage you to check out the websites.

I always make my payments through my credit card websites. The only one I'm impressed with is MBNA's (although I hate saying that because I don't like them as a company). It's easy to use, easy to make payments, all the information about previous statements is there like interest rates... and my favorite feature is where you can generage a new credit card number to use for online shopping, set a dollar limit and a time limit. I've used it many times where I was buying something online. I'd get the total to be paid and generate the new credit card number and use it right away (so if I'm buying something for $62 I'll generate a new MBNA account number with a limit of $65 and that will expire in one month). That way even if someone gets ahold of the number it will do them no good. I had to stop using it though, I was shopping too much :)
