Hi

I am a lurker and have only posted a few times but you all have such great advise. My company is closing there office in the state I live. I make a really great salary that I probably will not be able to find. I do have the option of transfering to another state and keeping my salary. Were I live I only rent and cannot afford to purchase. In the state that I can transfer to real estate would be easy for me to purchase. The state is Ohio and I would have to work in cincinatti. I wonder if any of you are familiar with that area and could give me advise on what towns are safe and affordable, also towns that would be close to malls, stores such as target and walmart, Any input would be wonderful

Thanks

I think it's great that you're considering relocation!

All my best,

In addition to Danni's wonderful suggestions, you could contact the Cincinnati police department and inquire about crime rates in various areas. We did this when we went on our last vacation to Alaska in the mid-90's. We were renting a furnished apartment in a normal apartment complex for 10 days, and we just wanted to know what the area was like. We found out that there were no violent crimes, and the only two disturbances in the prior year had been two domestic disputes that were called in as being "noisy" by other neighbors. When we contacted the apartment complex about these events, they said the tenants were no longer there. So we felt perfectly fine about renting that apartment for our trip. It may take a few weeks for them to mail you the information, but it's well worth it. :-D
