Hi all,

I wanted to know if any of you go to debtors anonymous meetings. If so, do you like them and how are they structured? I found one in my area and I am thinking about attending it next Tuesday. Thanks. Pat

No I don't go to any; didn't even know they existed. I've thought about going to financial couseling and I know it would benefit me but I think it would benefit dh more. I say go to a meeting (or a couple) and if you don't think it will help you, try to find something else. Good luck!

If you receive financial counselling and they negotiate a better interest rate or payment for you, PLEASE ASK if this will reflect on your credit report. I know where I live, this is reported to the credit bureau.

Well, I don't think it's that kind of financial counseling but thanks for the tip.
We are military so we can go to financial counseling on post to help soldiers and their families budget better. I think its more of a teaching tool as to how to handle your money. I really wouldn't know since I've never gone but this is what I get from what I've read about it so far. Some soldiers, like my dh, can't afford bad credit in the military cause it will affect their career so they want to help them from getting into that type of situation. I don't know if the actual term on post is financial couseling but that is what popped in my head when I read her post. :)

****If a soldier is active, the Soldiers and Sailors act, should apply.
. You should check
out this option if you have not already done so.
I think that even the best planners need some type of budgeting
information so the whole world can swear off credit cards. Wouldn't
that be a perfect world :)

I know about that but there are also stipulations to that. I believe he has requirements he has to meet as in being deployed for example.
Besides not all of our debt is in his name so that wouldn't help us out anyway.
