Hi everyone,
I just wanted to give an update on how things are going with me.
We're are still debt-free...well we were until the dh and I bought a home in January :))
We'll be taking possession June 1st.
But we will only have the mortgage payment (we scheduled it bi-weekly to shave off 3 1/2 years from the 25 year mortgage) and taxes and home repairs/renos and monthly utilities to pay :)
We have not racked up any credit card or other non-mortgage debt since we reached debt-free land back in June 2004 and we consistently pay off our charges before the due date.
I just wanted to encourage everyone here that getting to the point where you can begin to live your aspirations and not worry about debt is very possible and rewarding.
My only regret is that I didn't encounter this board prior to 2003; it was a major turning point for me to realize that I no longer wanted to have debt of any kind, that I was not enjoying that way of living. It felt good to not be judged for my past errors; the support here was and still is incredible!
We managed to save up a emergency fund plus the minimum downpayment needed and the best and most surprising part was that we were approved by a major bank with an amazing interest rate in spite of the fact my dh had no credit and I still had past negative marks on my report from a few years aback. I guess good behaviour has its rewards :)
I've missed being around the board but now that things have somewhat calmed down I'll be here more consistenly.
Have a great evening everyone!
Kassandra
