I get a high from spending

I really do! When I see something online, it's so easy. Punch in a few numbers off your credit card and the next thing you'll know is it's at the front door being delivered. It is so much a high that it scares me. Hitting bottom, which I've done before, was disasterous. I don't know how to replace that high - nothing else is quite the same. Oh dear!

This may sound silly, but I've found that a visit to the library gives me that same "spending high" that I used to get by going to store after store. :-D Ours has the same little hand-baskets that most stores use, so I just grab a little basket and go "shopping". Heehee :-D I look at the books, check out the magazine racks, see what movies they have, the computer software, and then the music CDs. A little of each category goes into my basket. Then I go "check out" at the counter where they scan each of my "purchases" and hand me a receipt that shows when the items are due back. When I leave and fill my trunk up with lots of free goodies, I always feel better. :-D

Freebee sites you say? Hmmmmm....they usually say "U.S. citizens only" - at least the ones I've seen.

I enjoy the library too. It takes up time just like shopping does, and then it gives me something to do (go home and read) which helps me avoid going and doing more shopping.

Also, sometimes I get a high from seeing that I've stayed within my budget for two weeks. I try to make a game out of knowing how much I have to spend when I go into a store and then seeing if I can stick to it. This weekend I had $85 set aside to spend at the grocery store. I told dd if we stuck to our budget, we could go get a car wash. Well, we spent $107 so no car wash. DD was disappointed but I told her, we don't have the money for it, we spent it at the grocery store and groceries are more important than having a clean car, and plus we can go get a car wash after I get paid again. So hopefully I am teaching her good budgeting, responsibility and patience. That makes me feel better than overspending at Target ever did (although, I will say it's taken me a long time to change my thinking and get to this point).

I so agree with you about loving the feeling of buying...so much so that I'm now here on this board! LOL

I've decided to make a game out of how much I can "save" each shopping trip. If it isn't on sale, or I don't have a coupon, I don't get it. This is particularly good for me with grocery shopping...as I have a tendency to just puruse the aisles and throw whatever looks good into my cart! My biggest to date savings in one shopping trip is $47 saved by clipping coupons and buying on sale items. If someone would have told me that I'd be clipping coupons one day - I would have said they were crazy! Now, it's my new game...and I'm getting pretty good at it too!

Is it warm enough where you live to wash your car in your driveway? :-D If so, maybe your daughter could wash the car with you, and the two of you can have a great time doing it together. Ds and I enjoy doing this (we live in GA, so it's kinda warm here right now), and he thinks it's funny to pretend to be rinsing the car and then soak me with the hose. LOL!

Oh no, I would do that if it was warm enough! I can't wait for it to warm up! The reason we needed a car wash is because everything is so dirty after the snow and rain we've had.
