Good news, bad news

First, the good news. My husband and I just applied and were approved for a mortgage. My credit scores were in the 800s.
Now, the bad news. I just had corrective cosmetic surgery, and wiped out what was left of my inheritance savings. So in the last two years I've gone progressively down from having $24K in debt, to paying off $14K on my own, then paying off the remaining $10K with an inheritance. Then I got another inheritance, and spent $4K on hospital bills, $2K on a dining room set, $2K on a washer and dryer. I put the remaining $2K down on a new car. Even though I had saved up $6K on my own during that two years, I spent and spent and spent, and now I have nothing! I literally had $30 in my checking account this morning. I'm living paycheck to paycheck again, and the paychecks are going to stop soon because my office is closing, and I'm relocating to Maryland for my husband's new job. So I can't even collect unemployment. I'm just a little scared.
But, at least I'm in the black. I'll get three months' severance pay on April 1. That will pay to convert the dryer and maybe the stove to propane at the new house. And there's always a chance that insurance will pick up some of the surgery bill, although I haven't heard anything yet, and it's been a month.

I hope everything else works out for you.
All my best,
Danni
Really? That would be awesome! I thought it was state-by-state.
I will look into it, thanks!

I just wanted to wish you luck in your move and best of luck/strength as you move into the unknown...
Your kind words have helped me a lot in the past. I've been very confused and scared in the last couple of months as I gave up my job and have been trying to figure out what to do with my life now....I've been very, very low at times but today I am convinced that with strength and perseverance we can make it!
Thanks, I needed that!
All the best,
Lee Ann
