Oh dear! I'm sorry that I can empathize too much with your husband - I haven't balanced my checkbook in months.
When I lose patience with my DH, I try to remember him on our wedding day. He was so strong, and sure of himself. So what if he keeps dangling his participles?...or can't balance a checkbook...
My dh isn't allowed to touch the checkbook because I'm afraid he would do something like this. I want to sit down with him and teach him how to handle and pay finances but he doesn't want to learn so he has to ask me when and how much he can spend. I know all and if I say no, he doesn't spend. He seems parent/child like but if he doesn't want to learn how to handle money, he sure isn't going to have free will of it. lol Sorry kinda got off on my own little vent there. I'm sorry your dh did that. If you do throttle him, try not to be too hard. You both really need to sit down and have a talk. I hope this doesn't ever happen again.
Oh no! I had a similar problem and decided to never use checks again and deal with cash only. When I get paid I remove the cash to use until next paycheck, and husband is not allowed to touch the account. All the bills are set up for auto debit, and I calculate how much I need to have in the bank when. The rest I pay online (elec, water, etc.) Good luck getting that straightened out!
