I'm just going nuts for a lot of reasons. Things here are just suddenly going very badly...Things are taking a nosedive, and I have no control......I'm just really depressed.
I got bad family news at the beginning of the week, and I just haven't had time to deal with it. Then I have had 2 major car repairs this month, so I have added $1600 to my debt heap....I am so upset!!!!!!!!!!! I have no idea how I am going to pay this off. My job hunt is not going well...It is stalled. 2 companies want me but suddenly they have no information for me about the positions. I have a million things to do and no time to do them. I AM JUST GOING TO HAVE TO HANG IN THERE, i KNOW, BUT i FEEL REALLY OVERWHELMED.....................
ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Littles,
Yes, just hang in there! At this time of year I get bummed out even *without* any of the bad things happening that you are going through. It's just cold, and snowy, and frozen, and gray, and it seems like it's going to last forever. My sister suggested some things last year that worked, so I started doing them again this week.
I drink protein shakes every morning and evening. In the morning I usually mix a banana with orange juice and the all-natural protein powder I got at Wild Oats. I use my hand mixer, it only takes 30 seconds. At night I get a little more 'creative'. I use milk or yogurt as the base, then some fruit, either bananas or strawberries, the protein powder, and sometimes a teaspoon of cocoa powder. It's just like a dessert!
I also make sure to take my vitamins twice a day, and make sure I get outside at least once a day. Now that I have a dog, I'm going for nice 30 minute walks with her three times a day at least.
When I was unemployed last year, I took walks to the library, and nosed around there every day. I found I was sitting at my computer all day looking for jobs and making myself crazy, so making an appointment with myself to get dressed and go to the library (a free place) kept me a little more sane.
My prayers are with you. Remember, this too shall pass.
All the best,
Lee Ann

Hey Littlesbigs - sounds like it's all hitting the fan at once for you - sorry to hear that.
All my best,

"I like getting "credit" for actually accomplishing things...so sometimes my to do lists involve basic activities like brush teeth, take shower, eat breakfast"
Danni,
I do the same thing! LOL! :-D I have a "To-Do" list for each and every day. I keep them organized in a little spiral bound notebook in my purse. For most days, it's just my normal errands and chores, but when things become hectic and crazy, I actually add the same types of reminders.....reminders to shower, brush teeth, brush son's teeth, feed dog, etc. Because if I get too busy with other things, these mundane things get forgotten. LOL! :-D

I hope things improve for you soon. Family situations are draining. For me, when i am down and then i have car repairs to take care of, I take it really personally. Last year when my Mom was sick, I was upset by everything, but getting pulled over twice in two weeks for malfunctioning taillights just about pushed me over the edge. Hopefully the companies will figure out what they want to do so you can figure out what you want to do. But if nothing else, lie down and give yourself twenty minutes to just BREATHE. You will get through this, it may not be pretty, but have faith, you will be OK. Take care of yourself, Heather
Keep your head up :)
$1600 in car repairs......
I've spent over $6000 (mostly to dishonest mechanics
I now do most myself) on an 87 honda CRX, solely because
I want to keep it on the road (87, last year my mom was alive).
It's not a financial but emotional decsion, and I know its insane,
but I can't seem to stop.
Look at the big picture: $1600 will pass :)
Keeping a car on the road 30, 40 years probably won't.
I wish you only success. But, it WILL pass.
Littlesbigs, I've been there! When it all piles up like that, I try to remember that as long as I have hot running water inside of my residence, I'm luckier than more than half the population of the world. :) Sometimes I just go in the bathroom and let the hot water run on my hands as a reminder. Wealthy kings had gold, but they didn't have hot running water coming out of a faucet at will.
I also like the saying that "If (fill in whatever is bad) is the worst thing that happens to me all week, I am a lucky woman. IE, there aren't bombs falling, your family is generally safe from harm, you have clean drinking water and you are a physically free person. I think about that ALL the time when I feel unfortunate or the debt is weighing heavily on me. I'm a lucky, lucky girl, and so are all of us here, in the big picture. Not trying to act like a Pollyanna, but really.
I have a new way to "save and spend" something other than money. I am only allowed to watch TV for the amount of time I spend outside. So, if I want to watch an hour of TV, I have to earn it by spending the same amount of time outside. Walking, commuting, working in the yard, whatever. But being outside is really good for the spirit, I don't think humans are supposed to be inside as much as we are. :) Time goes slower when we're outside, I think.
I hope that things look up soon. You are someone who really does help others here with your good ideas, challenges, and enthusiasm. Fuzzies back atcha!
Dear Lee Ann,
Thank you for reminding me to take good care of myself. If I don't I can just make things worse or even miss out on opportunities to make things better...and I really cannot afford to be ill right now since I am being paid hourly and time missed is money lost. (yes, I guess I do need to be back on salary now just to catch up....)
I am a big fan of the library, and when I get tired of one, I just go out to another one. They all have different services they offer, and I like the different atmospheres they have, too. I was a frequent visitor when I was job hunting full-time, too, and I found one that had all the services I needed for my job hunt so I was there a lot. It was good to get out of my house to a different atmosphere which was more studious or buisness-like than my house. Some days I just wanted a change and would go out to another one to just read......You are right that it is a great free place to go.
I've been feeling confined by the winter, my small cubicle, my small house...I need to get outside more which I hope will improve my mood and outlook, but this time around, it is rather challenging to get out of the funk. I do need more exercise....I have to exercise to try to rid myself of the negative thoughts I have been getting esp. since I got so much bad news lately.
Thank you for reminding me to take care of myself.

I am a to-do lister, too! And, some days I include DO NOT DO's, too! I am currently writing on my lists to not spend, not spend, not spend. I have to get this huge car repair bill paid off, so I'm just trying to avoid doing things that are going to cost me extra........sometimes I have to write down EVERYTHING just to limit my activities. I like seeing things get crossed off the list.............
