I won against the bank

Well if you remember last week I made a deposit in the amount of $12,000 (a 401K loan from DH). I was told that 40% would be available tomorrow and the other 60% next Thursday.
So after reading what everyone said, I called the bank and spoke with the branch manager. He explained that they do that to protect the bank. He also said anytime after 3 days they can call the other bank and if the check has cleared they will release the funds. So he offered to call, and call me back. Well it has cleared and I just checked online I have the money in there.
I immediately paid off my ATT Universal ($4551.35), and Capital one ($3772.98). They last to pay off is Citibank, but I am ghoing to hold off for a couple of days. With my garage sale money ($123 and the $3675.67) I will have enough to pay off my last credit card.
I know this is a false happiness, as we still have to pay it back, but I feel so relieved!

Nicola that is terrific news!
Are you going to cancel the credit cards?
All my best,
Danni
I'm not sure if I will cancel them or not. I feel we NEED one. (Do we need one? no but that's how I feel!) I am hoping that we can keep them open and either not use them or pay them off at the end of each month. I have 2 additional credit cards that I had paid off. I have not charged on these in over a year, so we should be okay.
I am very head strong about not getting into debt again. We are still continuing to pay down all of our other debt (2 cars, this loan etc.)

Yea for you Nicola!!! I am so glad you contacted the bank and they were able to work with you. You are on your way to being Debt FREE!!!! Woo Hoo
