Dh adn I found the house of our dream yesterday and put a bid on it but becuase of our debt we had to offer about 5000 less then she listed it as. Well she declined the offer. I am so upset. Houses here are so expensive for nothing. Hopefully we can get this junk paid off soon so that we can finnaly get a house that isnt falling apart

Hi Kristina,
I know what you mean about housing prices. They are building a new development near us. the sign out front states "starting in the mid 600s." Can you imagine spending more than half a million on a house?
Sorry about your disappointment, but maybe its not so bad. But maybe you can do a little research and get better results next time. You could ask the realtor how long the house has been on the market. People are more willing to negotiate after the house has been on the market for a little while. You can ask the realtor how the other houses in the area are selling: asking price, lower, what has a comprable house actually sold for?
When we sold our last house, the realtor told us that we ask for X and then expect to get about Y and that there was some back and forth before the final price was agreed upon.
$5,000 really isn't much to drop off the asking price, so perhaps you really weren't meant to have this house. Maybe its God's way of telling you that this isn't the right house for you. That there is something even better out there.
In my case, when we sold our last house, we then had to find a new one in a hurry. We saw the "perfect" house not far from where we lived. It listed at a little more than we could afford, but we thought we might be able to negotiate. No such luck. The owner's realtor was her father and he wouldn't budge. So we decided to look elsewhere. We broadened our search area and ended up with a house in better condition, in a better area, better schools, better commute and well within budget (under 150,000). Its a townhouse, but we have our own fenced in back yard, community pools and playgrounds galore.
Good luck! And keep looking

I'm sorry! I hope everything works out for you though.
I'm wanting to buy a house but Matt doesn't want to cause "he's in the army and we move around too much." *rollseyes* Yeah, like apts are any better. It's just dumping money down the toilet. I don't know if we would get approved for a house; I'm actually kind of scared to find out right now. Maybe in anther year or two.
Just sit down and go through your finances/debt and see what you have to do to get rid of the debt, when it could be down enough that you would be able to get a house. I know that is kinda long term (meaning probaly can't look at houses till at least next year) but it will feel more breathable once you get the house, not to have so much debt alongside it. Good luck and I hope you get a house soon.
