We're under contract to sell our house!!

So as of last night we're under contract to sell our house! After a few low ball offers last week for our home, it got pretty quite and then yesterday 3 offers came in!! One was a really low offer and of the other 2, one was at our current selling price and the other was higher than our current asking price!!! So we went with the higher offer - which not only looked good but they also have a pre-approval letter from their lender and because her fico score is so good she's was evern pre-approved for higher. WHOOHOOOO!!! I am so excited! As it was when we put the house on the market I thought that we had put it up too high but as a home model just like ours sold higher, on the recommendation of our realtor friend we left it at our current price - and as it turns out, it's going for a little higher. I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch but a few months back ago, when dh and I sat down and started to talk about selling the home and paying off debt and our financial plans for the coming years - without knowing what the appraised value of our home was we would have been happy accepting close to 20 thousand less!

Anyway, we're still trying our darndest to not let the extra $ through us off course. We're now looking at moderatly priced apts or a house to rent for the next few months while we get ourselves straightend out and pay off all our debts and loans, make our fico scores higher and save for a new home and put some into a savings acct.....I'm bursting with thinking about all the possibilities this home sell is going to provide us - and it's exhilarating to start having all our goals slowly fall in to place - I hope things continue to go smoothly and that our plans can be checked off one by one.

Oh and the cherry on top is that as of late last week my DH got a 20% RAISE at work!!!! Although with the new raise we could probably stay in the house, dh and I decided to stick to our original plan and now with his new raise the extra money can go into savings and IRA'S or possibly saving cash to buy new furniture that we desperatly need without having to use credit.

I feel like a giant weight has been lifted off my shoudlers. DH is a little nervous now that it's a reality but I guess that's to be expected. I hope HIS emotions will calm down a little as with his health problems he really needs to take it easy stress wise.

I do apologize for not being on as much as I would like lately or responding to posts, mostly been lurking when I can, with the house sale and the open houses/realtors coming by all the time, and the bosses being out of town at my work, things have been majorly hectic to say the least. Hopefully as things start to progress things will start slowing down. I hope anyway :) Thanks for all the good wishes up to now - they've really brightend my days.

OK back to work, lol :)

Wow, that's fabulous!! It's so exciting to have good news. You guys worked so hard to make the right (and difficult) decision about your house, and it's so good to see it working out for you so well.

Keep up the good work!

WOW!! That's great!!! I think you guys are going to be so happy when you are able to start socking money away, and are able to buy a house without the burden of other debts on your shoulders!!! I think you guys are doing a great thing! I know it must have been a rough week for you guys after the other offers came in lower, but it is so great that you are going to get even higher than your asking price!! things will work out for you guys. Moving is always stressful (we moved three times in under two years), but I definitely trust first instincts, so hopefully, you will all be calm soon!!! Heather

Congrats. It sounds like you both made a good decision. I'm sure it wasn't a easy one.
