ING Account

I’m thinking about setting up an ING account, so I can save money for a newer car (mine’s on its last leg) and for a rainy day. I was looking for people’s 2c on the matter.

I really like ING. I have their account now for almost a year. They're now paying 2.8% verses my bank .25%. Very big difference. ING is very easy to use and easy to set up. ANother kid on the block is emigrantdirect.com that's now paying 3.25%. Major difference from ING as well. ING has a referal bonus where you get like $25 for setting up and the person who refers you get $25 dollars. (not 100% sure of the bonus but I think its $25). I'm not sure if this board considers it spamming if I offer my email address for this referal so I'm going to be safe and not give it out unless I get the okay from the board monitors.
Anyway, Both are FDIC insured so your money is safe. However, emigrant was a little harder and longer to set up. Note: I don't have any stocks in these two companies. I just like them for paying high rates. Good luck.
All my best,
Danni
Just my $0.02 - I like my ING account. Easy to access, set up and transfer things back and forth.

Hi Danni,
Just a note to let you know that the Referrals board (formerly located on Parent's Place) was taken down in January. Unfortunately, we don't have any other boards where posting referrals is allowed.
Thanks!

Do it! ING is a great way to save! You earn interest, which is rare these days, never have to go to a bank, and can make direct deposits every week, every 2 weeks, every month, whenever it's convenient for you. Or you can deposit money just when you want to. There's no minimums. I just withdrew all but $1 and paid off a credit card. I have also made $75 in referring friends. When you want to take the money out, they will transfer it right to your checking account (takes about 3 or 4 days). You NEVER have to go to a bank or call anyone to do a transaction. There's no better way to save in my opinion!

I've been using ING since they started up in Canada and I like it. I use it mostly to save for things like insurance, car registration, property taxes and other things that aren't paid every month.
Also we are saving our former car payment towards the purchase of another car in the future.
Takes a couple of business days to transfer between the chequing and ING but it's a good way to earn more interest.
Good luck :)

I love ING! I have about 10 different accounts with them, to save for various things. You earn great interest, and it is VERY easy to set them up, transfer money in and out, etc. You can also make contributions whenever you want and/or have money direct deposited weekly/bi-weekly, etc. I think ING is a great way to save!!
