I was dreaming last night about looking for a dress for a wedding I have to go to in a couple weeks. In the dream, I could only find winter sweaters on sale, and the things I did like kept disappearing when I thought I had them in my pile to purchase.....on credit......! I woke up frustrated and wondered if this was some kind of message.... Well, I just laid there in bed mentally inventorying all the stuff I think I have in my closet because I just don't want to buy a new outfit if I don't have to. Suddenly I remembered a silk dress I bought maybe 8 years ago...classic style, raspberry color...very pretty on me back then....HEY! Possibly the perfect dress for this wedding....Put it on....It still fit! HURRAY!!!!!! I may have to buy shoes (black strappy sandals) and a wrap to wear over it which I can buy cheap.....but that will be an easy shopping trip. I don't need a purse...I'd just like to leave it in the car anyway and my SO can keep my car keys for me. Okay, so maybe I've knocked $50 off the cost of this wedding for me. That is a relief. This is an evening backyard wedding, so I figure if I ruin an old dress that's okay. Also, I would probabaly ruin a nice pair of shoes walking all over the backyard, so a cheap pair is fine.

Now I just have to think about the gift again. Since I am the artistic friend, I know there is an expectation that I am going to create something wonderful...and all I really want to do is give her a gift certificate and be done with it. I'm just too stressed right now with the current financial situation, starting a new job, and no time. Maybe I'll be inspired or feel differently later.

Busy day ahead.

Have a good day!

How about you go ahead and give a gift certificate, but you create a beautiful card/page to attach the GC to?

All my best,

When my cousin got married, a friend tool their wedding invite and had it framed with dried flowers around the matte. It was really beautiful. They still have it hanging in their house now, more than 10 years later.

I have also seen people wrap wide candles with the wedding invitations which looked really cool...I think that was something done a lot in the 1980's.

Well, I can't use the wedding invitation for a project....The bride did them on her computer, and they came out crooked, but she mailed them anyway....I don't mean to sound critical, but they really are awkward, even the wording is improper, so.....I mailed my response, and that's enough of that.

I am going to the library this week to borrow an old bridal magazine to get some ideas of what to do as a creative gift. I may be sewing a quick keepsake bag (for the cards and pictures I'm sure she'll like to keep in something special) and then I'll see what I come up with next.

The bride is in her mid-50's...the groom is 8 years younger.....They are refurnishing 2 homes so you would think it would be easy to pick a gift, but I don't know.........
