Relocating from NY to NC

Hi, does anyone have any advice for relocating from New York to North Carolina? I'm in debt and just sick of the rat race here. My real estate taxes are ridiculous and I could sell my house and buy a house - cash - with the money I make off this house, pay off all my debt and live comfortable. I have 3 kids and just wondering if anyone made the move yet. I'm just scared to what to expect.

Thanks.

I relocated from the San Francisco Bay Area to Portland, Oregon in 2003, and DH and I have never looked back.

All my best,

Hi!

I am also in NY and my DH and I are thinking of doing the same exact thing(moving from NY to NC and buying a house cash)What areas are you looking into? We're thinking about maybe Charlotte or Greenville or maybe even South Carolina becauese I don't want to be too isolated and I like having my conviences.NY taxes are getting ridiculous and it would be nice to get away from the winters here.Feel free to e-mail me if you'd like dare2820@msn.com.

Good Luck!

I'm in Charlotte, NC. Never lived in NY, but there are A LOT of people who move here from there. Most of them that I've talked to have been very happy with the move. There are adjustments--no Indian food delivered to your doorstep at three in the morning, for instance. But most people claim the quality of life here makes up for it, especially if you have kids.

We like it. Business is good, employment climate good, and lots of neighborhood options.

Definitely worth a look. :)
