I just sent in the last chunk to GM Card on Friday! The 0% balance transfer offer will end March 31st. I feel like saying to them "NA.. NA.. NA NAA NA~ you can't charge me interest!!" I know, that's a bit childish.. he he. It almost doesn't feel real yet since I've been consumed with it for years. We've paid it down before, but never the whole way off. THis board has helped me so much. Everytime I saw someone else post a payoff, that pushed me harder so I could get there too! We will never get back in that trap again!! I have DH on board this time and we have no urges to use the card anymore.
Plus Chase card, in which I still have an open account (card is ripped up, no balance in months)sent me one of those checks for $20.00 that will sign me up with their credit insurance at 89 cents per $100 of your balance. "You can cancel at anytime and there is no cost unless you have a balance" ....so of course I cashed that check!!!! I will call them once I get the info in the mail and cancel. I have made about $50 off of these companies this way. Why would they send me that check when they know I haven't had a balance in eons!? Does anyone else get these checks?
We are not done yet though. We have $477 left on furniture plan (0% until Oct) which I will payoff within the next 2 weeks. Next my student loan ($3500) by July, then we'll save for the new house. DH still has $9k on his student loan, but we are not waiting that long for the house. We decided to just keep paying the minimum on that for a while.
Thanks for letting me share my glee!

CONGRATS!!! I can't wait until I can write in and share the news of my debt pay off! It may a year or two, but I will, mark my words!

I don't blame you for not waiting for a house. You seem like you are in a great place and could definitely handle your debt and a house. Good luck on your house hunt.
Woo-hoo! That rocks. I'm glad you're going to let yourselves save for the house soon--that rocks too!
I'm so proud of you!
