I turned off the heat today!

I turned off the heat today...spring is here! I was thrilled to go for a walk and sweat and enjoy the sunshine and the heat...and also thrilled to think I was saving $2.00 by turning the heat off in the house. I am looking forward to seeing a lower electric/heating bill these next several warm weather months! Not that it is a lot of money I am saving, but lately, being able to save anything, snowflake anything, being able to keep control over some of the bills is a good thing.

As the summer approaches, how will your expenses change? Do you have bills that are more expensive in one season than in another aside from the electric and heating bills? Do you get new bills in the summer?(Like summer camp /daycare for the kids, social clubs, summer clothes, vacation credit card bills, etc?) Do you use your credit cards more in the summer for any reason like vacations, concerts, and events that occur usually more often in the summer? Are you preparing for these bills differently this year or are you following some other pattern? Is your debt going to affect your summer this year in a positive or a negative way?

Thanks for sharing! Littlesbigs

Back in November I switched our electricity and our gas over to an "equal pay" program.

All my best,

Good question, Littlebigs!
Spring/summer is usually much cheaper for us than fall/winter. Usually, when we go on vacation in the summer, we go to visit family and we don't have to pay for a hotel or anything. Also, all of our birthdays are between October and Jamuary, except for our youngest dd, who turns six next month. Also, buying shorts/t-shirtd is much cheaper than jeans and sweaters. We generally end up at the park a couple days a week, days we might shop otherwise. I am contemplating joining the Y...I spend $112 every 6 weeks for my girls to take gymnastics, but I think i would like to get off my butt and get some exercise too. Right now, we are paying non-member rates for their classes, so it wouldn'y cost us that much extra to join. It would only be worth it if I would actaully go, though, and i am kinda self-conscious, because at 5 feet tall, and 90-95 pounds, i am basically a wimp compared to anyone else who would be taking a class at the Y!!! That would obviously be an added expense. I am really looking forward to the summer months, with my new and improved (bigger) paychecks, we should start making some serious progress.
