I was going to fill up today, but I'm thinking I can get to my volunteer job and back on what I have, and then I won't need to go anywhere until Friday (pick up dh from airport).

All my best,

You said it! Is is only a matter of time before we start getting charged more for evertyhing because it will cost more to deliver it to the stores!
What is amusing in an odd way, are the variations in price. By us, there is a one mile stretch of road with 3 gas stations. $1.99, $2.05, and $2.15. The price goes higher as you get closer to the turnpike.
Also interesting is that NJ has lower gas prices than some nieghboring states. I say interesting because self-service is illegal in NJ, and our full service gas is cheaper than self service in other states.

well, the cheapest is $2.35 here. Luckily, I don't drive around too much, so I fill up about twice a month. My dh fills up even less often than that, and we both are driving Toyota Corollas, which have pretty small gas tanks. It cost me $25.60 to fill up earlier in the week. I liked it better when it only cost $15.00!!

My husband commutes 45 miles both ways. He also works really strange hours so he can't bus or share rides. It really sucks! I don't go anywhere that I don't really have to. I did go to costco yesterday and looked at gas prices there. It was 8 cents a gallon cheaper than the next cheapest place so I signed up for a membership. If it stays that way I will make up my membership fee in a couple of months just on gas.

I started to be a little concerned myself.

I don't drive a lot really, and I get good mpg.

But I started a side job recently, (not every day),
and its about the same as my work commute (13 miles)...

I can't say I'm now driving double the miles, but maybe
150%.....

And add $1/gallon almost over what it was last year....

I'd say I'm starting to be a little concerned.

I think they should be even higher. Gas is a scarce resource and we use too much of it in the U.S. Demand has met supply, and it's only going to go downhill from here (regardless of whether you believe we will run out in 10 years or 80 years, you have to admit this is a problem and should be dealt with sooner rather than later). As gas prices go higher, people will be motivated to use less of it, and people will also work harder to find alternatives and that is very important if we want to maintain our way of life (and there is no simple solution when it comes to alternatives, it will be expensive and take a long time to figure it out and integrate the solution).

I drive 25 miles to work one way, there is no public transportation option and I can't carpool because of dd. It doesn't bother me too much that the prices are higher, I manage to work it into my budget. I do hope next year to either move or change jobs so I have a better commute. I spend all most as much in tolls as I do on gas, so that is also a motivating factor to change something.

I am just so glad to be taking the bus right now....I have not bought gas since April 3 when the price was 16 cents less than it was today.
