"No Food in the House Syndrome"

So yesterday (my two hours of sleep day), I woke up 40 minutes before I had to be at work (I work 3rds), and decided I had to go through the McDonald's drive thru to buy lunch because there wasn't anything in the house I could pack quickly and i was in a hurry. So I bought a 20 piece chicken McNugget...half I ate before i clocked in, and half to be eaten at lunchtime. Only the first batch sat like rocks in my stomach. I ended up buying a Rice Krispy treat out of the vending machine and bringing the chicken home!!!Usually i pack salads, I missed my salad last night! it was such a waste of $5.00!!!! After work I picked up my salad fixings, so I will be eating happily the next couple of nights. I mess up my budget so much when it comes to food and stuff. I took out $100 on Thursday to last until next Friday (family of four), and after buying a few things that were not in the budget (kitchen towels, cat food), I am down to $30. Hmm...I wonder if I'll make it without splurging on something else. Any money from here to next Friday will have to come out of savings because i just send in a hefty registration fee for the conference I am going to in NY this September (which I need to save another $1000 for traveling expenses.) I have to buy stuff for my daughter's therapy too, if i hold off until mid-May, it will all be fine. We paid off one small cc this month, and one last month, and so that has taken a bite out of our usual discretionary spending money. Our savings account hovers around $200. ARGGH!! Anyhow, I just need to eat what is in the house, instead of sabotaging my budget by buying junk food that I don't really enjoy eating anyhow! Oh well....

Have you tried menu planning?
