And I've searched all over to find a link, but I can't, so I'll have to describe it.

It was from a co-workers New Yorker daily cartoon calendar and it was Friday cartoon. It shows a very old man lying in bed, someone quietly sitting next to him holding his hand; presumably the old man is dying. The old man says, "I wish I had bought more crap."

While it made me chuckle, it also made me realize that it is very true. I kept thinking of that cartoon all weekend and hope that it stays in my head for some time whenever I go to make a frivolous purchase.

Just thought someone else might find it as helpful as I did...

That cartoon sounds really cute. Whenever I start feeling guilty over a purchase, I tell myself "you only live once". But then I put myself on a money diet (at least until I've paid off that purchase). If I paid cash for the frivolous purchase, then I forgo the money diet.
