Anyone setting personal goals for May?

I'm bound and determined to get my groceries down to $95 each week this month.

My goal for May will be to sit with DH every week to discuss finances and pay bills. I've been in my new house three weeks now and haven't even opened bills to pay them since before I left Massachusetts.
So tomorrow while he and DSS are sightseeing in Washington, I'll open all my mail, pay all my bills, update Quicken, hopefully find our missing tax paperwork, and be ready to discuss finances with him on the day he chooses (he's always too 'busy' when I ask, so I'll leave it up to him to decide when).

Hi Lee Ann! How was the move? I hope everything went well. Are you looking for a job there or are you going to stay home for a little while. Are you all settled in? Did you bring the pup with you? Glad to see you back on the boards.
Goals:
Well, I've managed to cut my groceries down to $300 per month (family of 4) but I am going to shoot for $275 - we'll see what happens. It probably won't happen in May because we have a birthday party and that will be extra spending. Other goals are keeping the snowball rolling on CCs and keep adding to the savings. My main goal is to keep DH out of Home Depot - he is getting the home improvement bug that bites him every spring. I have to keep him on a tight leash when it comes to Home Depot. Wish me luck.

This really is a great question and made me start to think. I am going to work on getting back into the habit of bringing my lunch to work again. I got sick in March and kind of lost my appetite for a short bit, then when it came back I started buying lunch, an expensive habit to get into. So I am going to work on bringing my lunch again to work. I guess I will do my own brown bag challenge, unless anyone wants to join me???

deciding to be happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, but that you had decided to look beyond the imp
Goals for May: 1) keep emergency fund at $2500; 2) encourage DH with new work opportunities; 3) keep organized, planning ahead & watching budget weekly; 4) I would also like to get our grocery bill down (we spend $400 for two + 2 big dogs!) goal would be $350, we do cook at home all but one night per week; 5) celebrate 22nd anniversary on the cheap, wanted to go for a drive and picnic but the weather isn't cooperating so I think dinner and a movie will be fine.
Have a great weekend!

I'll join that one with you! I've been pretty good at Brown-baggin it lately. Even on the bad days when my lunch is really odd looking - chip crumbs, instant oatmeal, bits and pieces of dinner and breakfast. hehe. I'm in!
My goal for May is, of course, my yard. *cringe* I'm spending most of Saturday doing yardwork, so there should be some progress there.
My theme for all my goals now is baby steps.
