(I named my relationship with debt "Cousin Bernadette," so If I pick on her, don't feel bad!!!!!)
Shut up, Cousin Bernadette!!! Yes, I know I got my income tax refund today, but it is NOT for shopping....yes, I'd like to go shopping, too, but we have the bills to pay that are all due this week, and you know I can't make installment payments on any of them. They are all due now, so the refund has to go for that! As it is, I got my paycheck today, too, and it doesn't cover everything this time around, and I don't want to spend my savings just to make you feel better for right now! It won't kill us to spend this weekend doing something other than spending money. We'll be spending an arm and a leg next weekend! You need to understand that I have to be in control of the spending this week.....Stop pouting.....we have everything we need, and there are so many things that have to get done this weekend.....We can spend time instead of money. I just can't entertain you this weekend.....Get over it!! Stop bugging me!!
............Well, dear Cuz is going to hanging around for a long time to come, I know, but I am trying not to make it pleasant for her....... whenever I make I snowflake payment I think I'm pinching her, and she says OW!!!!!! If I pinch her enough maybe she'll go away!!!!!!!

Littlebigs, please don't take this the wrong way but I *LOVE* your saga with Cousin B and that you share it with us. It sounds like she's in MY house too!!! (or at least that annoying *voice* in my head-wanting me to spend money we don't have either).
I will say she must have been here in Texas this past week. I decided to declutter my back office which was full of STUFF. I had a TON of clothes that didn't fit my DD and wanted to donate them. While I was bagging this up Cousin B kept saying "You are THROWING out hard earned money"; I kept repling "I am going to bless someone who doesn't have MONEY for good clothes". She was sooooo mad at me, I think she went to pout in the corner. That's ok though, I took 4 bags of clothes to a dear friend of mine who is caring for 3 kids that aren't her in addition to her own two children. (Yep, that's 5 kids all under 17 by a single Mom) AND I drove them to her house which is over 70 miles away. They were so thankful. It felt so good to help someone else and clean out my house too. Of course, Cousin B is trying to tell me I *need* to buy more stuff but I am ignoring her. I am in another cleaning mood so we'll see how much MORE stuff I get rid of by the end of day.

Dear Susan,
Thank you for what you said! That's why I write about my dear Cousin Bernadette...because I know that there are others out there that she affects, too!
What you said about getting rid of the clothes made me think of something a good friend once said to me: For every bag of stuff you don't want that you eliminate from your house, that is that much more square footage you are freeing up in your house for you! We don't need to clutter our lives more than necessary....easier said that done, but something to work at. (I am trying to clean out my house, not having much success because I do not have time, but am trying to get there!!!! I want some uncluttered space here somewhere!!!)
I did go out yesterday and buy a few things for cash or on DEBIT that I needed for an event this coming weekend and a few things I wanted totaling $200. I still have to buy a gift for a dear friend for this weekend, too, but waiting until the end of the week to get it. I expect that if there are no crazy surprises before my next paycheck that I won't have to think about spending my savings or charging anything. ( I did hear Le Cuz B's voice in my head at Target....I had a armful of underwear, and she was cheering me on....and that annoyed me, so I put it all back. I had actually gone in for a pair of sandals, but REALLY I have a pair I bought 5 years ago that will do just fine....so I escaped the store!)
Best wishes to you! Littlesbigs
