I dont post here that often but I read the posts as much as I can. I am feeling really scared right now and I need to get this off my chest. My dh and I got out of 100k worth of business debt a year ago when we sold our house. We even put some of the money in the bank. I was so happy, we bought a cheaper and bigger house and had money left over. Then my dh used 10k of our money for a new business venture. It hasnt made money yet but I am sure it will. Well our emergency fund is down to half of what is was. I see our cc balances creeping up again and it really scares me. I am trying to keep our last 10k in the bank for emergencies or such. It is really hard not to buy things with the 10k. I want new furniture, fun vacations this summer and a new bigger car. I know I need to be patient but it is hard. Does it ever get better? Thank you for letting me vent. Leanne

Hi Leanne - yes, I promise, it does, indeed, get better.

However, it only gets better when our every day behaviours change.

All my best,
Danni

Leanne,

My heart goes out to you. I know what it's like to feel scared. I feel that way a lot of the time, seems like just when I start getting a handle on it, something happens to pull me another step back.

I'm in a horrid situation right now. I know it can get better, though, and that for me it started with not accumulating any more debt. I have *had* to learn to live on cash and it's entirely doable. I suspect that if I still had credit cards, I'd still be using them.

If you are anything like me, in the midst of your debt-crisis you say, "Wow, if I'd have only done XYZ differently 5 years ago, then I wouldn't be in this spot."

Well, now is the time you have to do something differently! You've worked hard to give yourself a great second chance and don't have to repeat the past! I'm really pulling for you.

know when to fold 'em,

tee

Hi, I know what you are going through. It sounds like you are prepared to get your DH's business off the ground, good for you. My DH quit his job and has been starting something up on his own...slow going no income yet! I have a good income, but if we had cc debt, we would be in a world of hurt right now. I know what you mean about new vehicles etc...we purchased a new pickup in Nov, 6 months later DH decides to quit his job, I would give anything not to have that pickup payment, we would be rolling in the dough without it, as they say hindsight is 20-20. Just relax and be patient, you'll get there.

Good Luck

Thank you everybody for the nice responses. I really appreciate it. Sorry it took me so long to get back to eveybody but I have been out of town. We received our tax refund and I paid off all my dh's business expenses so I feel better. I am still getting a new couch, loveseat and chair with the rest of the refund. I havent had new furniture for 11 years and it was all given to us. It is so beat up I cant stand it. Well, that is my update. I will try to post more often. I really enjoy everybodys stories. Leanne
