Oh, I have a temper and would have had a hard time holding myself back! I hate high pressure sales tactics. Good for you for restraining yourself. I almost always go with local contractors/dealers. Easier to get my money back or something fixed if your parents went to high school with their mother.

It's odd how quickly everything changed. In my grandparents generation nobody had debt except for a house which they paid off as quickly as possible and lived in their entire lives. It's odd how much society changed in 50 years from no debt to everyone in debt.

If there's one thing I can't stand, its a high pressure salesperson. I remember one who tried to force me to join his tanning salon, backed me into a corner, and told me I was "stupid". They can really be horrible. No more salesmen for me.

After reflecting on it, we've decided that unless something changes, we are going to go ahead and purchase the new A/C unit the pushy salesman recommended -- from his local competitor.

Hi Blossom,

If I were you, I would consider writing a complaint letter to the customer service department or director of sales at the national store whose salesman was such a jerk. I wouldn't be surprised if they sent you a gift card or something similar to try to make up for your negative experience. I've done this when I've had bad experiences with companies in the past and received coupons, store credit, etc. And you never know--it may result in some kind of reprimand for the jerk too! :-)
