I've got 3 graduations, a new nephew, my brother's birthday, DH's birthday, and Father's Day all coming at once! There isn't much money left in the 'Celebrations' account. So, for DH's birthday, I'm crocheting him a sweater vest for him to wear to our dance lessons. Cost for yarn: $18. For my brother, I'll get him cake from his favorite bakery for his birthday party, $100. For the nephew, I already got him a Patriot's baby bottle and pacifier, and a 'future president' jumper. DH wants to go to some medieval manor place for dinner for Father's Day, so I'll leave the reservations to him (knowing full well he'll never make them, and IF he ever does, I'll have the money by then). I'll suggest to DH that we give $50 graduation gifts to two kids, and $100 to his son, who already got a $300 bike (used).

How are you getting through this gift-giving season without debting?

WOW! You have a lot of gift giving to be doing! Yikes! I don't have much, my bosses daughter is graduating from high school and I have no idea what to get her without spending a ton of money. Any ideas? My mom's birthday is next week, I will get her a gift certificate for something pampering, she loves that stuff, but never does it for herself. My father passed away 14 years ago, so I will have flowers for the cemetary to buy. No other birthdays or graduations, no weddings until July, not sure yet what I will give for this one. I'll have to think on it! Good luck to you making it through the season! Keep us posted!

A cake really cost $100?!?

deciding to be happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, but that you had decided to look beyond the imp

Lee Ann, I'm right there with you, we did mothers day, sisters bday, both of our dads bdays, nieces bday & 2 graduation gifts all in MAY plus our 22nd wedding anniversary was in May! Let alone the upcoming fathers day. I only spent $25 total on our mom's for mothersday, card only for sisters bday, 2-$30 cabelas gift certificates for our dad's bdays, niece received a little gift & $25 for her bday,& one grad received $20, & one grad received $100 & a beach towell (she was our neice). It sounds like we are cheap, but we put thought into the gifts and with DH not working, we have a pretty tight budget to adhere to. I am kinda over feeling guilty about gift giving, we do what we can and make sure we remember everyone.

Here comes June - fathers day and brothers bday, then maybe we'll be free sailing for a month or two.
Have a good day!

No, it was three cakes at $25 each, plus a $25 delivery fee. But these cakes are something else! So light, and yummy, mmmm, I'm hungry now!
