I so feel your pain, last week i was so proud of myself b/c i went to the grocery store and saved lots of money stocking up on sale items, only to find later that night i had a nail in my tire from that trip , and it was flat, so off dh went to spend 7 dollars at wal mart to have it fixed, then he calls me and says, well, the back tires are really bad and we should replace them ...... When all was said and done he ended up spending $150 dollars for two tires and other misc. stuff that we "needed" from wal mart- never allow men in to wal mart alone, they have no sense of what a good price is for anything! I was so bummed after all that........!
Well on the plus side at least your tire was only $50-$60 to fix. The last time I bought tires for my car it was $900 for 4. Actually add interest because I am still paying on them. And one has already been replaced.
So I can really sympathize.
Shannon PS- I am also married to my mechanic, my oil never gets changed on time, the tires are flat & bald before he changes them, and my brakes lock up forever before it becomes his priority. I have come to the conclusion that I just don't pay well enough!
Nope my husband has already put 35" tires on my Jeep grand Cherokee, and it does not encourage him to work on it any faster then it did without the lift and the old stock tires. The only difference it now cost $220 per tire to be replaced.
Word of advice : DON"T LET HIM DO IT!! Tell him you like the height of your car right now, just the way it is!!

Are our husbands brothers? They sound very similiar.
LOL I love the comment about how you sleep with your mechanic, that's just too cute. You know, car care has always been on my bad side. It will be fine for awhile, I'll get regular maintanence done to it, but then one month when I'm like, eh, the car doesn't need any work done to it, the brakes start squealing or something. LOL Hope you got the tire. I wouldn't want to drive on a spare for very far either.
I know where you are coming from on the tires. I bought a new car approx. 3 years ago and the tires only lasted two years. I sleep with my mechanic too and he never rotated them. So I ended up paying $700 for four tires, which added to my debt, but I'll take care of these tires. If I take care of them, they should last 85,000 miles. Tires are frustrating.

Not to worry about my minivan...he's not spending money on those big tires for me!

Luckily I never even had to use the spare.
