I was just waiting for this to happen...it's a 13yo hand me down from when my in-laws got a new one.

Are you near a city that has craigslist.org?

I'm betting that if you did a funny ad about how badly you need a dishwasher and you're sure there is someone out there who is getting a new one and wondering "what in the heck do I do with the old one?" - you're willing to come haul it away, etc.

All my best,

Do you have a Freecycle in your area? Check freecycle.org for that group. Also, in our leaner days, we always got all appliances at the Salvation Army. $40 for a washer, couldn't beat it. If you have one or more around, they usually carry a nice supply of appliances. They test all appliances and will let you know if it works properly, etc.
