It's not bad enough that my car is causing me so many problems but my checking account is overdrawn by close to $600.

Oh I feel your pain. I have been there. I'm sorry I don't have a solution for you, other than take a deep breath and pray that you will have the strength to get through this. Maybe this is the "rock bottom" you need to get some financial counseling? Lots of hugs to you. Stay strong!!

I always suggest calling the bank and seeing if any of the fees can be dropped, especially if you were expecting a direct deposit that didn't happen at the time you thought it would. Find out what delayed the DD, and see if there is anyway you can have some of the NSFs reversed. I have done this before and have had some of the fees waived. It's always worth a shot.

I wish you the best and am sorry to hear what happened.

Hi, Blissie. I agree with Danni et al. See if you can get the NSF reversed. I would also try to find out about the DD. Was it supposed to credit on a different date? I have learned the hard way to wait until at least a day AFTER the DD goes into effect. Have also got an overdraft protection. $250.00. Saves embarrassment of NSF and those astronomial returned check fees. You will get thru this. Just go forward. WHiz.

Can you pay all of your bills and this overdraft with your paycheck? If not, it sounds like you need an emergency loan. Do you have any relatives who could help you out? Also, the Salvation Army will cover your rent once (you don't need an eviction notice) but it would help if you said the 2 kids are living with you. For the future, check with your bank and see if they offer a direct deposit advance. Wells Fargo offers advances up to $500 if you get direct deposit and they take it out when the check comes in. Good luck.
