Welcome to the half-way point!

Okay - so maybe I'm not completely accurate to the day, but today is definitely June 15th, and that is right smack dab in the middle of 2005!

Yes, money is definitely tighter this year. I was thinking about this over dinner in fact. For me, I had 3 things happen this year that collectively cost me $3500 that I had not planned on. I am in the process of still paying back that total...and I'm thinking, too, that the year is just half over....am I going to be facing another unexpected $3500 expense before the year is over?????? Well, I am going to do what I can to prevent any disaters I can, but life happens.
Another thing affecting me is that I am paying so much more for the rent and gas and food this year. Ridiculous!!! I am trying to keep expenses down, but it's not easy, so I keep talking myself thru the day trying not to spend much more than I have to. I also have a new job which pays more, but is just doesn't feel like it I swear. I still feel like I am also catching up still from when I was under employed or unemployed.
I mean, I just got paid today, and it's all gone! I saved off the top for retirement and all the bills for this paycheck are paid, but YIKES!!!!!
I will keep hacking away at this, however.
Yes, this year is tough. I'm tougher!

It is definitly tighter for us as well.
We have the construction on our home. We're paying the interest on the construction loan, the electricity that the builder will be using during construction. We also have a car payment (lease), now the puppy, etc.
I'm aggressively trying to save for the furniture, and other things needed in our new home. It's has been never ending.

I think things are tighter this year - I know it's also less people are also sending me in their numbers (probably because it's tighter so they can't snowflake).

Guess I should step in and say that for me, this year is a banner one so far, financially that is. Our momentum seems to have hit a fever pitch, and we're paying down our debt faster than ever while still enjoying ourselves quite a bit.
Here's hoping it continues for us, and that it picks up again for others too.
By the way, in my continuing efforts to streamline my bill-paying system (I spend at least an hour at it every two weeks, so it *needs* streamlining), I long ago stopped posting my snowflakes (sorry!). But it's not because they're not happening --they most definitely are!
Happy end of second quarter, everyone!
Heather
I wasn't part of snowflaking last year and didn't start posting until the end of the year, so I don't have that numerical comparison, but I've got to tell you that we are doing FANTASTIC this year!
I know that our snowflakes aren't where they were last year. I also know that when DH totalled the Blazer earlier this year most of our flakes went to that whole deal. I will admit that I haven't been as diligent as I was last year for finding and redirecting the accumulated flakes, that's for sure!
I dunno, but I am of the opinion that it's time for me to get cracking on getting some big flakes before DH graduates next May and the student loan repayment starts!

For us this year, I have not been snowflaking as much due to 1) we filed bankruptcy 2) higher cost of gas, food etc have left impacted our ability to snowflake 3) I have been lazy and not submitting my numbers. So my Mid year goal is to get back on the Snowflake wagon. I will committ to sending in my numbers each month.
